Increase to TSMIT as of 1 July 2024

The Australian has announced that starting from 1 July 2024, the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) will increase from $70,000 to $73,150, in accordance with indexation.

All new nomination applications lodged as of 1 July 2024 must satisfy the new TSMIT, or the annual market salary rate, whichever is higher.

Importantly, this new base salary threshold will not impact existing visa holders or nominations lodged before 1 July 2024.

More information will be made available on future income thresholds and indexation methodology, once finally determined later in 2024.

Separately, it is worth noting that from 1 July 2024, the Superannuation Guarantee will increase from 11% to 11.5%. Then on 1 July 2025, it will be increased by a further 0.5%, taking it to 12%.
